Tammy Whalen-Blake runs The Yellow Mastermind. She wanted to bring her group together for something that wasn’t another working session. So she gathered a few of them to solve a murder.
What we ran
We ran Odds On. A bookmaker found dead at the biggest meet of the racing year. Four of them, one team, working it together.
The suspects were AI-driven, interrogated live through the platform, in character and answering whatever the group asked them. They chased theories, talked themselves into suspects and back out again, and pieced it together.
Two and a half hours start to finish.
You find out who people really are
The thing Tammy kept coming back to wasn’t the puzzle. It was the people.
“The thing that stood out for me was seeing other people’s characteristics come out. There were different parts of them that I’ve never seen before. When you’re against the clock and you’ve got to solve something, it’s amazing to see how people behave. I got to know them a bit more deeply by the way that they think to solve a crime.”
— Tammy Whalen-BlakeYou don’t get that from a quiz or a round of drinks. Put a group under pressure, hand them a problem that matters for the next few hours, and you see how they actually think.
It felt like 30 minutes
“It was that engaging for two and a half hours. It felt like 30 minutes. It went so quickly. We were all focused in on our task, and it was great to go off on tangents. What about this? How about that? Some of our theories were accurate, other times completely off course, which added to the fun.”
— Tammy Whalen-BlakeThe platform
Tammy’s group played through our web platform. Everyone logged in, saw their role and worked the evidence from there.
“The platform was well built, very structured, very clear. I understood my role and I was able to access certain features, which was useful so I can focus in on the thing that I’m supposed to do.”

“Overall, loved it. I would highly recommend it to anyone else. I personally will do an event with my friends. I know there’s many more with Cinderella Events available, so it’s not the same game every time. There’s more options to choose from.”
