This is the objection we hear most often. "My team would hate it if they had to act." "People are already nervous, don't make them perform." "We tried an improv thing once and it was a disaster." The best bit about our events is your team doesn't act at all! We hire great improv actors.
What your team does
Your team investigates. They read evidence. They discuss theories. They interrogate suspects.
The interrogation is the bit that worries people, so let's be specific about what that involves.
They ask questions. That's it. "Where were you at 9pm?" "What was your relationship with the victim?" "Why did we find your fingerprints on the murder weapon?"
Our actors answer in character. Your team listens, takes notes, and decides if they believe them.
Nobody has to pretend to be someone else. Nobody has to improvise dialogue. Nobody has to stand up in front of everyone and perform.
What our actors do
Professional actors play the suspects. They're in costume, in character, with detailed backstories and rehearsed responses. We go with improv actors because they are used to acting off the cuff if one team throws a spanner in the works with a really out there question!
They handle the drama. The tension. The reveals. The emotional moments.
Your team gets to enjoy the performance without being part of it.
Why this confusion exists
Some murder mystery experiences do ask participants to play characters. Usually the cheaper ones. Everyone gets a character card and has to "act out" their role for the evening.
That's not what we do.
Our format uses professional actors so your team can focus on solving the murder, not on performance anxiety.
What about shy people?
Interrogations happen as a team. Nobody has to ask questions alone. The confident people tend to jump in first, but the format gives space for everyone to contribute.
Often it's the quieter team members who spot the crucial detail everyone else missed. Observation doesn't require a loud voice.
